JUDAH JOHNSON is a band, not a man. From the Great Lakes State. Led by DANIEL JOHNSON. Others have come and gone. Compositionally-speaking, simplicity and directness tend to get frowned upon. Even the most straightforward songs circle and swirl. Melodies DO reveal themselves, but bashfully -- geisha girl giggling, batting lashes, behind a fluttering fan. But this is more opium den than whorehouse. More ether than adrenaline.
