AMY MACDONALD

[I had the most disastrous night of my life last Thursday, and I'll be trying to dig myself out from that in the days ahead. I fully expect to have new music up for you on a daily basis, but I probably won't have much time or inclination to write about the artists. In the meantime, enjoy the tunes....]

I first heard about Scotland's
AMY MACDONALD late Wednesday night. All I remember is that I was very excited about the songs I'd discovered and that I was looking forward to putting them up here on Monday. Which, of course, would be today. And today would also be the day that her debut LP, THIS IS THE LIFE, hits UK retail shelves.

Great post...So sorry for your heartache. This poem always helps me gain perspective during my painful hours:

"Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight."
-Kahlil Gibran

Blessings and peace.

The album debuted at #2 on the UK charts. She is 19. Yowza.

I was in England 3 weeks ago and heard "This is the Life" on BBC Radio Cumbria. My wife and I said "Who IS that?!"

Too bad the CD and iTunes tracks are unavailable in the States (with the dollar as it is, imports are pretty prohibitive). Wonder how long that will last...

We will be hearing more from
