London, Ontario's BASIA BULAT categorizes her music as "pop," "folk," and -- far more interestingly -- "melodramatic popular song." "Chamber pop" is another genre that gets mentioned. "Sweet ragtime piano melodies." "Tender-hearted string arrangements." That sort of thing.

But take a look an inch or two down from here at the caliber of artists she's performing with in the month of May. Must mean something....

Basia Bulat's debut album, OH, MY DARLING, was released in Europe on Tuesday. For the time being, the U.S. (and London, Ontario) will just have to do without.
