LEOPOLD (SWE)

I want to be absolutely clear about this from the very get-go: the LEOPOLD in question today is the band from Gothenburg, Sweden, not the one from London, England. Nothing against the one from London, England, mind you. It's just that it's been a while since we've seen Sweden. And we've missed it.

LEOPOLD consist of MANS and OLA WIKLUND, CHRISTIAN LYUNG, and ANDERS JACOBSSON. They traffic in intensely mellow, pristine, and pretty pop. A Google search on them turned up the telling phrase: "Piano-pop melancholists." Indeed. Though they're not exactly COLDPLAY. More subdued. Less pretentious.

If you live in Sweden, you can buy FRIEND OF A FRIEND from DOTSHOP.SE (and probably any number of other Swedish-type locales). If you're unlucky enough to live elsewhere, you can just click on over to Parasol Records.
